During the nine months of 2019 Coke plant
exported 340,000 tons of coke; while the planned export for the month of
October represents an increase of 25 percent. The total planned export for 2019
is 500,000 tons, which represents the realization of business plan that follows
last year's result.
‘’Considering that this was one of the most
turbulent years in the steel and coke market, caused by the China-America trade
war, the achieved production result can be considered as great success because
we still managed to maintain our last year level, which was a record year for
GIKIL’’, said Elvir Mukić, Deputy Director for Coke sales.
A similar trend in production was maintained in
other plants as well. After several months of stoppage and after the basic
environmental requirements are met, the youngest plant in GIKIL, the Maleic
Anhydride (MA) plant, has been experiencing constant monthly productive growth.
‘’Thanks to the high product quality, similar
to last year, GIKIL's MA has found its place among customers in 15 countries in
the region and the worldwide, including France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Turkey, Belgium, Greece and Switzerland”, said Ermin
Čeliković, Deputy Director for CAN and MA sales.
Despite strong competition in the market, after
the restart of production, Fertilizer plant has managed to maintain its status
on the BH market and be the number one product with its CAN among domestic
consumers when it comes to the use of fertilizers.
"All this has once again confirmed that
farmers recognize the quality of our product, that they have positive
experiences and, most importantly, excellent yields," Čeliković added.
In addition to BH market, as well as
traditionally Croatia and Serbia, CAN has found its place among customers in
Austria, Macedonia, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro and Slovenia this year.
According to Suad Imamović, Deputy Managing
Director, by the end of the year, the plan is to continue production growth in
all GIKIL manufacturing plants, thus maintaining the status of the largest
exporter in Tuzla Canton, and one of the biggest exporters in BH on which list
GIKIL is currently ranked as third.
Stable production, planned growth and
development, as well as continued significant investment in environmental
protection, will enable the protection of jobs, not only for the 1000 of direct
employees, but also for the new employment, and a regular expansion of the
business network, thus contributing to the development of Tuzla Canton and
Federation of BH and economy of the country in general.
"The long-standing trust that GIKIL has
built with its numerous customers and suppliers, 460 of them, provides a
reliable support for concluding new stable business contracts, as well as regular
settlement of obligations to our associates, as well as to the state and our
employees whose salaries are still about 20 percent higher compared to the
federal average", said Imamović.
According to data from 2018, GIKIL contributes
with 1.1 percent in the total gross domestic product and 2.5 percent in Bosnia
and Herzegovina's total annual export.
