Global Ispat Koksna Industrija d.o.o. Lukavac (GIKIL), with fulfilling the basic legal requirements related to environmental protection, must continue to operate. This is a unique conclusion of the Chemistry and Non-metals Association of Cantonal Chamber of Commerce Tuzla. The meeting of the Board of the Association, which was held yesterday (October 25th 2018) in the premises of GIKIL, was attended by representatives of companies and institutions that form the backbone of the economy and development of Tuzla Canton.

Recalling the significant progress that GIKIL has already achieved over the last three months with set goals clearly defined by the 47 key projects for safe and environmentally acceptable work of GIKIL, President of the Association Zuhdija Aganović said that the open support of all present is clear messages to the federal institutions as well.

"People who sit here today are not just distinguished businessmen, but also experts who absolutely know GIKIL, facilities, possibilities, and legal procedures which are full of shortcomings. GIKIL wants and can operate, we have basic engineering, we know how to improve processes, employees, the Management Board and the Supervisory Board are decisive about it, but we need help from those who decide about all of it. Responsibility must exist on all sides, so we will also go toward the federal ministries with conclusion that the work of GIKIL has no alternative”, Aganovic said.

Open support for the continuation of GIKIL's work on this occasion was given by representatives of Sisecam Soda Lukavac, Cement Factory Lukavac, Solana Tuzla, KEMIS-BH Lukavac, Variplast Gracanica, Institute of Protection, Ecology and Education Tuzla, Cantonal Chamber of Commerce Tuzla, representatives of the Ministry of Economy of Tuzla Canton, and other members of the Association, with a message that every further step, which would lead to the termination of GIKIL's work, would cause catastrophic consequence not only for the Canton, but also for the entire country, as many companies are dependent on GIKIL.
