VISITS OF FORMER SOLDIER FROM THE NETHERLANDS: GIKIL IS PART OF MANY LIFE STORIES

During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina 1994/1995, Mr.Henk de Pater from the Netherlands was based in the area of our company as a volunteer soldier under the flag of UNPROFOR, whose units provided logistical support to surrounding areas affected by war aggression on our country.

He was recently in a multi-day visit to our country, but with a completely new mission: to show his son where he spent several months during those difficult war years which left mark on his life, as well as the lives of local people; teach him about recent history based on his own example and example of people from Lukavac and Tuzla with whom this soldier, a volunteer, made an unbreakable and lifelong bonds.

We were touched by the fact how much emotion exists in the story of a seemingly ordinary man, stranger, and how important it is to inform ourselves, educate, learn, and learn about each other.

He told us that he could accept and understand all the customs of our people, the Bosnians, besides the jokes he listened to and that unsurpassed Bosnian humour.

Returning to his country, Henk, now a friend of our company and country has written several lines to us in the Bosnian language as well: "From Holland with Love. Indeed, it was an emotional journey through Bosnia, full of good and bad memories. It is also great to see events in Bosnia. Thank you very much for hospitality. "
