The agricultural season has already started to the great extent. While some cultures have already been planted, preparations for planting others are in the final stage. In order to achieve a better yield quality, it is very important to know about the needs of these plants, where mineral fertilizers are essential.

One part of the necessary nutrients will be provided to the plant by natural reserves of soil, while the remaining part, as pointed out by agronomists from GIKIL, should be provided by mineral fertilizers.

"The fertilization is the easiest way to regulate the growth and development of plants. So, for example, nitrogen fertilizers, such as domestic, Lukavac’s KAN, we use to fertilize when we want to increase the growth and development of plants’ vegetative organs. Plants are fertilized when their productive organs start growing, and most rationally after the rain. If there is drought, it is recommended to water the plants before using the mineral fertilizer. The fertilizing of the vegetable species which are grafted should be done 15-20 days after it, "explained Admir Osmanhodzic, an agronomist from Gracanica.

The fertilization is also needed for maintaining the existing soil fertility level, since the harvest takes a considerable quantity of nutrients from the ground each year.

"For optimum corn fertilization, for example, the needs of corn for the nutrients should be explored first, which means that soil analysis should be done to examine its pH value, on which depends the availability of nutrients. The amount of natural nutrients which plants can absorb from the soil are usually inssuficient to achieve the bigger yields because they are not 100 % available, so it is important to fertilize it", he added.

Professor from the Faculty of Agriculture, Goran Perković from Bijeljina agrees that corn fertilization is very important agro-technical measure, emphasizing that the plants then adopt the highest amount of nutrients from the soil. He also adds that the corn fertilization needs larger amounts of nitrogen in the stage of intensive growth of the plant, so it is very important to provide sufficient quantities on time.

"The best way to put nitrogen into the soil is by using  Lukavac’s KAN because it allows the plant to adopt nitrogen in the ammonia and nitrate form. During the first corn fertilization stage, 150-300 kg / ha of KAN should be provided. The first feeding should be done between the fourth and the sixth leaf of growth, and it is very important because it influences the quality and quantity of the yield later. The second fertilization stage should be in the development phase of the seventh to the ninth leaf of corn, and between 150-250 kg / ha of KAN should be provided ", said Perkovic.

GIKIL’s agronomists exchanged directly their experience from the field and the way how to achieve the best product quality and the bigger yields with the farmers who have visited Grapos-Expo fair in Gracanica. GIKIL was presented under the sponsorship of the Cantonal Chamber of Commerce of Tuzla.
