GIKIL ONE OF THE MAJOR FACTOR FOR INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION GROWTH IN FBIH

With 269.76% increased production of coke in the first six months in this year, Global Ispat Koksna Industrija Lukavac is one of the key companies meritorious for growth of industrial production in Federation of BiH.

Representatives of Global Ispat Koksna Industrija d.o.o. Lukavac met the new Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of India, His Excellency Sead Avdic, yesterday August 19, 2010 in Sarajevo, They discussed the previous investment of Indian partners in BiH, in particular the investment in GIKIL. His Excellency Ambassador Avdic stated that the investments of Indian entrepreneurs can be used as an example of the most successful investment models and privatization of companies and enterprises in BiH.

Deputy Managing Director of GIKIL Mr. Faik Busevac informed Ambassador Avdic about successes that GIKIL has achieved in the past six months.Specifically, GIKIL stabilized its production after a persistent fighting with the global economic crisis. The common struggle of Management and employees of GIKIL has led to increased production and export of coke. Reports for the past six months show the success of GIKIL in coke production. GIKIL has also achieved remarkable results in tar production by 246.40%, ammonium sulphate by 190.09% and coke gas by 414.64% compared to the same period last year.

With 269.76% increased production of coke in the first six months in this year, Global Ispat Koksna Industrija Lukavac is one of the key companies meritorious for growth of industrial production in Federation of BiH. This year GIKIL produced 2845 tons of crude benzene while in the first six months of the last year no product was manufactured.

These facts show the final recovery of Lukavac's Giant which immediately reflected on the positive overall industrial production growth in Federation of BiH, which in the first six months of this year recorded an increase by 2.5 percent. In spite of the fact that the company was enormously hit by global recession last year and its work and the fate of more than 1,000 employees was put at stake, GIKIL has successfully overcome the crisis and has not dismissed a single worker. The most important thing is that positive trend in GIKIL’s production was directly reflected stabilization workers’ wages which are being paid regularly according to the Agreement signed with the Union of this company.

The aim of the meeting in Sarajevo was to inform BiH Ambassador in India, Mr. Sead about the past activities of Indian investors in our country in order to strengthen cooperation and to attract new investment into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
