Sustainability at GIKIL means meeting the needs of our stakeholders while conducting business in socially, economically and environmentally responsible manner to the benefit of future generations. Our practices create fundamental value for GIKIL and all of our clients, customers, employees, investors, contractors, and communities in which we operate. GIKIL continually engages with customers, suppliers, regulators, industry bodies and partners around the world. We listen, reflect and respond to our stakeholders; they are crucial for defining our priorities for Citizenship as well as for product development.
We are working to solve some of the community’s biggest challenges. We are committed to finding sustainable solutions to benefit the society, its people and the economy. Citizenship at GIKIL is more than a program or a set of good intentions. It is our pledge to improving social, governance, environmental and economic sustainability efforts. But in implementing CSR activities, for GIKIL it is important not to view these activities purely from a quantitative aspect but consider the qualitative aspects as well. It is easy to write a cheque. But while funds are important, it is equally vital to ensure that the funded CSR activities are well planned and well executed and that they make a real difference on a sustainable basis to our stakeholders and society. So, GIKIL focuses on areas where we can make a difference, by our business operations, our presence at the market, or through our broader influence in society.
For GIKIL it is important to constantly support the society. And we know that helping society and extending a helping hand to those around us can be mutually beneficial and profitable. This may be more difficult to achieve and takes time but will yield long term benefits. There is a need to foster strong and effective partnerships among the business sector, public organizations and community-based NGOs to bring about a real change in mind-set that will enhance the society’s sustainability.
The financial crisis too brought with it new challenges. But being a good corporate citizen for GIKIL remains a main priority and we are continuing with our CSR programm.
