Validation of the clean development project of “Global Ispat Koksna Industrija” d.o.o. Lukavac, related to certified reduction of „greenhouse“ gases emissions, was performed last week by Senior Consultant Virginie Vitiello, from Department of British Bureau Veritas that deals with the verification of these types of projects ahead of the UN.
In addition to Miss. Vitiello, the validation in Lukavac was attended by representatives from German company N. Serve Environmental Services, that is GIKIL’s partner in this project.
Validation was aimed to check whether GIKIL possesses all necessary documentation and whether it is in line with UN regulations for the registration of these types of projects.
Project participants presented to the auditor site, the management system and explained the process and specific questions about project activities. During the site visit, calculations of GHG emission reductions, project and leakage emissions, monitoring and monitoring plan were checked. It was also presented alignment of the project with local regulations, cost analysis and a meeting was held with stakeholders.
In GIKIL are optimistic about the final report that will be submitted by auditor Virginia Vitiello in the next month.
With this positive report and Letter of support from DNA (Designation National Authority) body formed at the state level, GIKIL will register its project to UN Committee For The Carbon Credit. If the Committee approves the project the next step would be installation of catalyst for reduction of nitric gasses as the ultimate goal of the project. In this way there will be a drastic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the plant for the production of nitric acid.
The project that GIKIL is running will have significantly contribution in reducing of the global warming. GIKIL, as environmentally friendly, defined the strategy for environmental protection. It will be a priority in the business over the coming years, because of the fact that health of people in this company is placed ahead of everything else. |
